1966 Coombs Jaguar 3.8 Mk.11 manual. Reg. no. MPD 4D. Chassis no.234917DN engine no.LE3461-8 This is one of 19 Mk.11 3.8 litre cars modified by Coombs of Guilford and is probably the last car converted for fast road/competition use and comes with a well documented provenance confirming it is an original Coombs car with Heritage Certificate.

The original modifications included an uprated engine, close ratio gearbox with overdrive, modified suspension and steering ,removal of rear spats, straight through twin pipe exhaust and Burman power assisted steering. The car retains its original colour scheme of Signal red with a black interior with full length Webasto sun roof and sun visor which was fitted from new . Believed to be one owner from new until 1989 when purchased by the well known show business entertainer and enthusiast Robin Colvill of the Grumbleweed comedy band who undertook a full but sympathetic restoration . Inside the original and very rare Zebrano[from the Cameroon in West Africa] vertically veneered woodwork was refurbished and the complete interior was upgraded with the fitment of four specially adapted Jaguar bucket seats in black hide piped red wth contrasting carpets. Since then the car has had 2 further owners the last owner for 10 years and during this time the car has been well maintained, serviced, and upgraded .

The engine was rebuilt in 1998 by the Jaguar specialists Don Law from Stoke on Trent including gas flowed head stainless inlet and tuftrided exhaust valves upgraded valve springs and machined ports plus block and bottom end overhaul and AP racing triple plate clutch at a cost of £11,000 to a high specification for fast road and rally use and has covered only 4000 miles since then. A set of 4 brand new 6J 72 spoke competition wires and new spinners have just been fitted. Central locking and an alarm system have also been added. A Panasonic veneered front facia 4 speaker remote controlled sound system with AM/FM Cassete CD multi compatable is installed.

The car is in absolutely magnificent condition inside and out with a large history file a Coombs keyring and is an extremely rare opportunity to acquire a Coombs 3.8 Mk. 11.
